At 4500 meters above the sea level life forms have faded and the cold becomes threatening. As we ascended into the cloud, the purest water keeps flowing from a height that will not reveal itself. Not so many years ago, this whole area was a red zone: the guerrilla crossed the iced peaks and settled in the region, some even in the same farm in which we stayed. Just to imagine the stamina of those men, carrying their equipment across this path of stone seems frightening. Our endurance is tested, as well as the battery of my medium format camera.

"After this picture", I said to myself, "I don't care if it becomes a cumbersome paper-weight for the rest of the journey".
