    Karma is reading a book she brought from Kathmandu about interesting facts from around the world. The only way to stay connected with the other side in a way. Spring in the Himalayas is beautiful but among the striking landscapes lays harsh reality. The only person who Karma can open up about her aspirations is her little brother and random strangers. She loves her family yet big world has now taken a room in her heart. by: palnitro Views[1057] Inside the woolen tent anticipation of dinner is in the air. Father has left yaks high up in the mountains for a day. He spends time with Karma’s younger brother who is spinning his prayer drum in the puja corner. His son joined a monastery as a student and will be leaving the household soon as well. by: palnitro Views[768] Mother is preparing traditional Tibetan tea. What seems like a perfect household is actually on the brink of collapse as there’s no one to continue the tradition. Karma wants to study psychology in Kathmandu but can’t explain this to her mother and feels sore about that. by: palnitro Views[703] 16 years old daughter of the yak shepherds Karma is enjoying her morning wash. It will be her first summer with the family after a few years of high school in busy and “civilized” Kathmandu. Life of a shepherd attracts her less and less. She has a Facebook account now too. by: palnitro Views[1113] Early morning in the high valley (4300m) at the edge of Upper Mustang (Nepal) where mother of a small family is milking one of the 70 yaks that belong to them. Behind that mountain is Tibet. Yaks are very valuable and provide food, fur/wool and fuel for many remote villages in the desert area.
