A pretty little town set alongside a Parque Nacional de los Glaciers. Massive, snow capped, jagged, granite monoliths set above pristine lakes and glaciers are major drawcards here for climbers and trekkers alike.

Main draw card here was the dynamic Glacier Perito Moreno which is constantly growing and shearing. We hired a Fiat Uno for the day to go check out all the fuss along with 3 Spainiards.

Southern most city in the world accessible by road and where the cruise to Antarctica shoot from. Contemplated signing on for a cruise on a last minute deal, but thought we'd leave it for next time as 13 days on a boat watching ice and water seemed a ... Read more >

April 2 - 4 This morning we got up at 6am to take a flight to El Calafate, which if you look at our route map is right in the south of Argentina. Now after a week long party in BA we were both broken and very, very tired. After a flight of 3 hours ... Read more >

Iguazu Falls: Day 2

Tue, 29 Mar 2011 | By caitiegoddard | Views [1883]

Day 2 in Iguazu and I’m finally going to see the falls! Rated in ANY guidebook as one of the top 10 waterfalls in the world and formerly in the running for the newly elected “modern 7 Wonders of the World,” Iguazu does not disappoint. In my opinion, ... Read more >

March 26 - April 2 After a long bus journey of 24 hours we arrived in Buenos Aires. This is what Ashton has been looking forward to for a very long time, for me it looked cool but I had no idea what to expect. Even though we were shattered from the ... Read more >

Fri, 25 Mar 2011 | By kashton_jdennis | Views [197]

March 25 - 26 March 25 was a special day as it was Kate Ashton's 27th birthday. After her initial sadness about saying goodbye to 26 (a good year all round) and being that one step closer to 30 we packed up, waved goodbye to Brazil and crossed the ... Read more >

What to Do at Iguazu...When You're an American

Tue, 22 Mar 2011 | By caitiegoddard | Views [1491] | Video

Brazil rejected me. No nice words, no attempt to make it work, just a solid rejection. Arriving in Iguazu during the holiday weekend means if you don’t plan beforehand and you are American, Canadian, Australian or Japanese, you are not ... Read more >

How to Make a Bus Trip Memorable

Mon, 21 Mar 2011 | By caitiegoddard | Views [1153] | Video

Leaving Buenos Aires was tough; the city is massive and I could have easily spent another 2 weeks exploring it and trying to get to everything I wanted. I had heard about Iguazu Falls from my roommates who went and highly recommended it so when I ... Read more >

El Bolsón

Tue, 1 Mar 2011 | By megan_skinner | Views [518] | Comments [1]

I have just returned to Bariloche from the town of El Bolsòn where I was for two nights.  El Bolsòn is about 2.5 hours south of Bariloche and kind of on the boundary between northern Patagonia and the Lakes District.  It is known for its Feria Artesanal ... Read more >

La Mascara – First Impressions of Salta, Argentina

Tue, 1 Mar 2011 | By OffTheBeatenPath | Views [5355]

I shoulder my bags and step off the bus into a blaze. The mid-afternoon sun limns my body in sweat as I scan the sky for the Teleférico. The cable cars bob up to Cerro San Bernardo, hanging from the line like crab apples. It is the first step in ... Read more >

Sunday in San Telmo

Mon, 28 Feb 2011 | By caitiegoddard | Views [1233] | Video

Sundays in Buenos Aires paint a stark contrast of activities, or lack thereof: while stores open late or not at all and unlike the rest of the week, the streets are quiet and empty, the markets of the city are packed to capacity. It's like the entire ... Read more >

Exploring Recoleta and Envying the Dead

Sun, 27 Feb 2011 | By caitiegoddard | Views [1299] | Video

Friday! Although not nearly as exciting to state as it usually is (I love Spanish classes, even though by the video, I have lots to work on!) it was still nice to know I had the whole weekend to do whatever I wanted. With no tango class on Fridays, ... Read more >
