         		 Cape Farewell, located west of Farewell Spit and 160km from Nelson, which is the headland of South Island New Zealand. I paid my visit days before I departed to my homeland, Malaysia. I guessed it was destined, so that I could have a good farewell with New Zealand, a land full of wonders! One need days to see it, but needs a lifetime to understand it.          		 The colorful Champagne Pool located at Waitomo New Zealand is a 700 year old explosion crater filled with hot water spring. It has steep sides and 62 metres deep. The orange colored edge contains arsenic and antimony sulphur compounds rich in minerals including gold and silver.     It was evening in the Autumn, where the trees are getting ready for winter, changing themselves with yellow leaves. The beautiful scenery of Lake Tekapo is a place like Heaven on Earth. I'm lucky enough to visit this wonderful place. Lake Tekapo, the Church of Good Shepherd, mountains, golden sun rays, blue sky, clouds and the breeze were complementing each other perfectly. The emerald blue lake has a special element at the bed of the lake, called “rock dust”, which gives it nice bluish tone. It's a germ of South Island New Zealand.          		 A memorial consisting 185 empty chairs, each unique to represent the people who died in the February 2011 earthquake. It's easy to become over whelmed by the structural damage in the city, especially as a visitor.          		 A shell of what once was. An office building waits to be demolished to make way for a new Christchurch. What really stood out was the silence.          		 A fence bordering the red zone. Enclosed within what is arguably the heart of the city, the Christchurch Cathedral. The damaged cathedral has come to symbolize the February 2011 earthquake. What was a source of pride for the people of Christchurch is now a source of debate and conflict.          		 25 months after the 6.3 earthquake struck Christchurch on February 22, 2011, the effects are still strikingly visible. After arriving into the city I made my way to the CBD and started to explore the red zone, areas of the city still closed off to the public. The damage was shocking. It is one thing to watch news reports on TV, but walking amongst the reality of it was surreal. It was hard not to feel as if I was walking on a movie set, this was so far beyond anything I had ever experienced. It was all very interesting and sad at the same time.
