         		 A Red-Billed Seagull (Chroicocephalus scopulinus), native to New Zealand, rests on a post as it looks over the tidal flats of the Estuary. More than 60 species of birds breed at the Waikanae Estuary.          		 Ripples across the Estuary. Abstract colour and pattern are reflected and rippled across the otherwise glass-like surface of the estuary lagoon. At Waikanae Estuary, freshwater from the Tararua Ranges meets the saltwater of the Kapiti coast.          		 Heather Chesterman is a potter and sculptor living in solitude in the depths of the Tapu Valley, Coromandel peninsula, New Zealand. She makes her work in this small studio next to her home which is surrounded by her garden. The garden is technically open to visitors but sees few as Heather often puts up the closed sign.     A collection of tools by the window. The clay doll figures are from a fundraiser several years ago for one of Heather’s daughters. Heather made the tiny figures in casts whilst her then 16 year old daughter dressed them in clothes made from the silk provided by another artist.          		 The night before our day trip to Milford Sound the weather forecast was for storms, 100mm rain, high winds and zero degree temperatures. We were initially bitterly disappointed ........ that is until we spoke to the locals who told us we were going to see Milford Sound at her most majestic ........ and we did.          		 Lake Wanaka on New Zealand's South island is a place that shows how everything in nature is connected. The run-off water from alpine mountains collects in the lakes, which feed more rivers and streams to send nutrients down from the top (the mountains), throught the forests, and down to the bottom (the ocean).          		 On an expedition to record dolphin calls for the study of dolphin communication near boats, this Sooty shearwater flew by.
