A religious custom that originally gave Devadasi women status and yet over the centuries has deteriorated to a life of prostitution and the fear of HIV.     Farida.... A single mother supporting her child invited my two friends and I for lunch in her home, she didn’t have much food but insisted on welcoming us to her stories and her life. For a few hours we were blessed with her laughter, positive outlook and awareness of what is important to her amidst a village that holds great poverty. The Hampi area had been recorded by Portuguese traders in the 16th century as a place hustling and bustling with life, food and even jewels.          		 Plead - Its very common in India for people to come up to u and plead for money. if you look different, people will follow you. They are not malicious though, they won't hit u or snatch your belongings. They are just very persistent. I was climbing a building to get to a vantage point.          		 Science Surrenders - Ahmedabad has the blend of old values and new culture. People are very religious, maybe superstitious too, but the education in that city is one of the best in the country. Many of the country's best universities are located there.          		 Enter the mausoleum to find a replica of the tomb of Sultan Muhammed Quli Qutub Shah, the fourth king of Quli Qutub Shahi dynasty, built in 1602. I took a staircase which leads to the base structure supporting the mausoleum. Here, I bumped into the magic of light in these dark galleries and some workers who had finished cleaning the area around the actual tomb.
