After a week of waking up at 5am to see the most incredible sunrise every morning, I decided to take a different stance (quite literally) and incorporate my surfboard into the photograph. I set my shutter release self timer to 10 seconds having set up for the shot, and quickly ran into the spot I had mentally marked out. I couldn't hear the shutter amongst the waves and so I had no idea whether I had made it over in time, tripping over my ankle strap on my way to make matters worse! Nevertheless, when I returned to my camera, whilst receiving an intrigued look from a rising local on the way, I found a beauty - it had worked first time! Post-processing involved tone enhancing and a textured overlay of wooden panels with rusty bolts and peeling paint. This reflects the old wooden huts on stilts I was staying in at the time, giving the picture a real rustic surfer feel.: by matthewlloydcordwell, Views[472]
