    Out here, where there are no roads, is where you would normally expect to see wildlife, such as bears. After hiking along the entire, 40 mile long, Teton Crest Trail in four days in the backcountry, not a single bear was seen. Are we somehow enticing our bears to choose the roadsides instead, where they are so much less safe? by: rangerbobbie Views[507] Grizzly 760 followed in his Mom’s footsteps and chose to forage along the roadsides in the park, until he got himself trapped and relocated within the state. A few weeks later, he was put down by Wyoming Game & Fish after supposedly feasting on a hunter’s kill that hadn’t been properly hung. by: rangerbobbie Views[496] Grizzly 399’s adult cub Grizzly 610 gave birth to her second set of cubs over the winter of 2013/2014. She already lost one to natural causes, when she appeared with this COY. A couple of days later, as tourists and photographers were crowding them along the roadside to the point of panic, she chased her cub up a tree, and then later abandoned it, allowing it to perish. by: rangerbobbie Views[604] As the cubs get more and more accustomed to humans over time, they get more and more courageous in their pursuit of easy food sources and begin to get themselves in trouble. by: rangerbobbie Views[529] Scenes like this, where famous Grizzly Bear 399, walks her cubs directly up the roadside in Grand Teton National Park, WY while humans stand around watching as if all things are normal, are becoming way too common.     I was lucky to catch this shot with the amount of moving this guy did. One of my favourite places is the zoo, as much as I hate the idea of wild animals being confined to such small places. by: laura-beth Views[523] 'Oneness' Alburferia, Portugal. Me always having a camera on me snapped the moment immediately and to date is one of my favorite photos. by: phoneeurope Views[487] The chinstrap penguin is one of the different species of penguin which is found the South Shetlands. Among all the local fauna, it was he who was more curious about my camera, approaching at a distance that I hardly could ever have imagined. by: carluscp Views[569] The southern tip of South America is also the vast continents largest island and is known as Tierra del Fuego or 'Land of Fire'. It is separated from the mainland by Magellan's Strait, coined by the Portugese explorer Ferdinand Magellan when he was commissioned by the Spanish to lead exploration to the East Indies. To reach the Pacific Ocean from Europe he travelled across the Atlantic and found Magellan's Strait which enabled access to the Pacific without going down towards the treacherous waters off nearby Antarctica. Being in such close proximity to Antarctica, at the time Magellan passed through Tierra del Fuego there would have been many colonies of King Penguins (Aptenodytes patagonicus), which can grow to one metre tall. However, the waves of colonisation that ensued resulted in such pressure from humans on their populations from land clearing, development and even as food and for export, that none would remain in the not too distant future. In recent years, however, a colony has returned to a protected bay off the north-western coast of Tierra del Fuego, and while not yet remarkably successful they have managed to produce a few offspring. This photograph was taken very early one morning and was the second time we had gone to observe the colony. On this occasion we were early enough that no other humans were around and the normally cautious penguins, which prefer to stay on the opposite side of a small river to their human observers, decided to cross the river en masse and explore their surrounds. We sat there, completely still, as troupes of them came right up to us, seemingly as curious about us as we were of them. These four came within metres of me and started singing a song while one of them turned around, seemingly to conduct their musical endeavour.
